SERVICES, TRAININGS, &WORKSHOPS

Trainings and Professional Development

The Project NANO workshops are offered to provide desktop SEM training and curriculum development to teachers, 5th- 14th grades.  Once trained, the teachers have access to the Project NANO toolkit for 10-14 days in their own classroom.  We presently have over 75 teachers trained in the Portland/ Metro area and over 6,500 students have captured images with the Phenom, a research grade desktop SEM.

Inquiry Lessons/Data Collection/Image Capture

Students will be involved in Inquiry lessons. The Project NANO toolkit allows students to capture images from 20x-20,000x.  A flash drive plugs in to the Phenom SEM, a touch screen with 'camera like' intuitive controls allows easy capture of images.  Built in software allows students to measure and label images after they are captured. Samples can be loaded and imaged in as little as    45 seconds!  The toolkit also comes with a Leica light microscope that allows image capture and helps students develop a full sense of size and scale as they venture into the 'nano' world.
